Types of Eating Disorders

Anorexia Nervosa

Characterized by restriction of food intake leading to low body weight, typically accompanied by intense fear of gaining weight and disturbed perception of body weight and image.

Bulimia Nervosa

Characterized by regular, often secretive bouts of overeating followed by self-induced vomiting or purging, strict dieting, or extreme exercise, associated with persistent and excessive concern with body weight.

Binge Eating Disorder

When you eat a large amount of food in a short amount of time and feel you can’t control what or how much you are eating.

Orthorexia

An obsession with eating healthy food. A person with orthorexia is fixated on the quality, rather than quantity, of their food to an excessive degree.
